    Relax and create. Unwind is a program designed to get teens engaged in creative projects as a way to disconnect from technology and connect with themselves. In this program, each meeting will have a theme and specific task designed to give participants a chance to unwind. During the summer, we will meet on Fridays from 2 to 3 p.m. in the new teen area.     Once upon a time, there was a band of loyal misfits who came together despite their differences to achieve an important goal. What was that goal? Who were those misfits? That’s up to you! D&D is a table-top role-playing game that allows players to create their own characters and embark on an adventure they write together. But one thing’s for sure–there will be magic, dragons, monsters, and more fun than you can imagine at Huntsville Public Library! D and D also builds creativity, writing skills, and teamwork. This group will meet at 4 p.m. on Fridays. June dates are June 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Teens 12-18 are welcome! No prior experience is necessary!   7. Book a Dog: Reading with Pets with a Mission

    Wagging tails plus happy readers! Come to “Book a Dog,” a literacy initiative held in collaboration with Pets with a Mission and Huntsville Public Library. This program will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 12 in the Rex Children’s Room of Huntsville Public Library. Two animal teams from “Pets with a Mission'' will be at the Library for quick one-on-one reading sessions with trained therapy dogs. This program is best suited for ages 5 to 12. No sign-up is required as the dogs will be available on a first come, first served basis for one hour. Signed waiver forms are required to participate.

  10. Picture Book Creation Competition Begins

    An event for all ages. The Huntsville Public Library is sponsoring a Children’s Picture Book Creation Competition. This event will be divided into four specific age groups with a winner being selected from each group. Group 1 is ages 5-8; Group 2 is ages 9-12; group 3 is ages 13- 17; and group 4 is age 18+. Blank books will be available at the library beginning on June 15. Completed picture books will be due on June 29 by 6 p.m. Winners will be selected on July 13th.
