  Library Cards

During the library’s closure

If you have never had a library card before, you may visit https://huntsville.biblionix.com/catalog/ to prefill the card application. Click on the “Sign Up” button on the top right corner of the screen and enter the requested information.  A library staff member will contact you to schedule an appointment to pick up your new library card. This service is available for adult library cards only at this time.

If you have lost your library card, please call the library at 936-291-5472 and a library staff member will discuss potential solutions.

When the library is open

Any adult that is a Texas resident and over the age of 18 is eligible for a card. Children between the ages of 3 and 18 may be issued a card, but must have a parent or guardian create the account and sign a consent form. The child must be present when the card is issued, and the parent or legal guardian must have a library card.

Replacement cards cost $1 to process. When coming to the library for a replacement card, please remember to bring your driver’s license, passport, or Texas ID card. If your card has been lost or stolen, please be sure to notify the library immediately so we can deactivate your card.  Otherwise, if you simply do not have your card with you when you visit the library, you may check out items by using your driver’s license, passport, or Texas ID card.

What to bring

Whether you are signing up for a library card online or in person, please note that you will need the following items to receive your card.

  • A valid driver’s license, passport, or Texas ID card
  • Proof of residency--something issued within the past 30 days that has your name and current address (utility bill, auto insurance card, voter’s registration, etc.)
