Computer Classes

Note on Computer Lab Usage: 

  • When using the computer in the Adult Computer Lab, if more time is needed, make sure to ask before time is up. All work will be lost once time runs out.
  • The computers in the Lab turn off 15 minutes before closing time. Weekdays at 6:45 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:45 p.m. 

Computer Programs



Classes on basic computer use and programs are held on a monthly schedule. Classes are held in the Computer Lab and are limited to 16 students per class. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
You may sign up for one day or multiple days, as you need. Days and dates are not absolute(S) until you register. If you are interested in any of these classes, please fill out one registration form for the class you wish to start with using the links below. Please be patient as we work to get you into a class as fast as we can. You must have been registered and contacted in order to come to class. ​Basic Computer Classes

Make your New Year’s resolution mastering computer skills with help from the Huntsville Public Library. Register for our free Basic Computer Classes held from 11 to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays in January at the Huntsville Public Library. These classes will discuss using the mouse, typing, emailing, and Internet browsing. Class size is limited, and registration is required. A library card is needed to participate in the classes. ​Intermediate Computer Classes

Boost your computer knowledge with the free Intermediate Computer Classes hosted by the Huntsville Public Library! Classes will be held from 11 to 12 p.m.Tuesdays in February. These hour-long classes will feature how to create and save files, move files into folders, delete file types, and download files and programs. Class size is limited, and registration is required. A library card is needed to participate in the classes. If you don’t have a card, bring your ID. Adults 17 and older can register for classes. ​Microsoft Word Classes

Want to create and edit professional resumes, newsletters, and documents? 

The Huntsville Public Library is offering free Microsoft Word Classes. A series of 4 classes from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays begins March 3 in the Computer Lab. These classes will feature activities on typing and how to make corrections, formatting text, working with pictures and graphics, and using tables and outline with bullets. Class size is limited and registration is required. A library card is needed to participate in the classes. If you don’t have a card, bring your ID. Adults 17 and older can register for classes. ​Microsoft PowerPoint Classes


Learn how to create a presentation with animation, narration, images, videos, and much more! Huntsville Public Library offers free Microsoft PowerPoint classes from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays. Classes begin April 7 in the Monday Computer Room. Other items to be taught are the Ribbon, Quick Access Toolbar, and Backstage View. Class size is limited. ​Beginner Microsoft Excel Classes

Need a way to keep track of your schedule or budget? Learn how to organize your data with Microsoft Excel. The Huntsville Public Library is offering free Microsoft Excel Classes for beginners from 11 to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays starting May 5 in the Monday Computer Room. The course will cover subjects such as making a new file, data entry, cell formatting, formulas, and manipulating a finished table. Adults 17 years and older can register for classes.
