Elevated Storage Tank

The City of Huntsville is one step closer to improving water pressure throughout the city, as a part of Bond Proposition 3 that citizens approved in 2016.

The City of Huntsville is one step closer to improving water pressure throughout the city, as a part of Bond Proposition 3 that citizens approved in 2016.

The 2.5-million-gallon steel bowl was lifted into place on June 21 and will rest on top of a 130-foot tall concrete pedestal. Crews then worked to secure the bowl with a concrete ring beam, seal, paint and place the top on the tank. The City logo will be featured on the bowl. Work is still ongoing, with a completion date set for November 2019.

Construction of the new lower pressure plane pump station and 2-million gallon ground storage tank is also underway at the corner of Highways 30 and 19. A replacement pump station is also be constructed at the Palm Street Water Plant, with water transmission mains to connect all the new structures and stations are simultaneously underway.
