Dr. Marcus Gillespie, Associate Dean in the College of Science and Engineering Technology at Sam Houston State University, will present “Climate Change: Evidence, Causes, and Consequences”. He will discuss the scientific consensus regarding climate change.
Dr. Gillespie holds a Ph.D. in Geography with emphasis in geomorphology from Texas A & M, and a M.A. in Geography from the University of Wyoming with emphasis on the environment. His undergraduate studies in Psychology and Earth Science were completed at Sam Houston State University. Dr. Gillespie has served as Chair of the Department of Geography and Geology at Northwest Missouri State University and Chair of Geography and Geology at Sam Houston State University.
Dr. Gillespie has taught several university level courses including Weather and Climate, Climatology, Meteorology, Conservation of Natural Resources, Soil Science, Earth Science, and Geomorphology. Dr. Gillespie was the Chair of SHSU’s successful 5-year accreditation plan to enhance scientific literacy and critical thinking. Dr. Gillespie also taught astronomy, biology, and physics at the high school level.
Attendees may bring a brown bag lunch. Lunch time begins at 11:30 a.m. and the lecture will begin at noon. The lecture series is planned for the fourth Thursday of each month.
