TxDOT will have overnight closures of the IH 45 main lanes in Huntsville to facilitate the installation of deck panels on the Smither Drive bridge. These closures will occur over several nights beginning Wednesday, June 4, 2025, weather permitting.

HUNTSVILLE – TxDOT will have overnight closures of the IH 45 main lanes in Huntsville to facilitate the installation of deck panels on the Smither Drive bridge. These closures will occur over several nights beginning Wednesday, June 4, 2025, weather permitting. Closures will be performed in one direction at a time.
Northbound IH 45 Closure
Northbound IH 45 will be closed at Smither Drive on the nights of Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings. During these times, northbound traffic will be diverted to exit at Exit 114 (FM 1374/Montgomery Road), proceed north along the frontage road, and re-enter IH 45 North just north of Smither Drive.
Southbound IH 45 Closure
Southbound IH 45 will be closed at Smither Drive on nights of Friday, June 6, and Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings. Southbound traffic will be redirected to exit at Exit 115 (FM 1374/Montgomery Road), continue south on the frontage road, and re-enter IH 45 South near Huntsville Memorial Hospital.
Message boards will be in place advising drivers about the closure and law enforcement officers will be in place to help with the flow of traffic.
