[ARCHIVED] Public Library closes doors, continues curbside options

Curbside Pickup Service - July 24

The Huntsville Public Library is committed to maintaining the safety of our community during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Due to being short-staffed, the library will be closed until further notice but will offer curbside service starting Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Patrons may place items on hold by visiting the library website at www.MyHuntsvilleLibrary.com and logging into an account by entering their library card number and 4 digit PIN. Patrons may also place items on hold by calling the library at 936-291-5472.

During curbside, patrons are limited to five (5) holds at one time per card. When item(s) are ready for pick up, a member of the staff will contact the cardholder.  Patrons are asked to wait for staff to contact them before arriving at the library. The hours of curbside pick up are between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

When arriving at the library, located at 1219 13th Street, ring the doorbell which is located to the left of the glass doors at the library’s main entrance. The doorbell is equipped with audio and video capabilities allowing a staff member to see and hear you. You will be asked to state your name and read your library card number or your driver’s license number.

Once the library staff member has confirmed the information, they will check the items out to your account and bring the items to you in a plastic shopping bag, along with a checkout receipt. Staff will place the items on the table directly outside the front door. Patrons are asked to assist staff in maintaining social distancing when picking up items. The library building is not open to the public at this time.

If anyone needs special accommodations for curbside pick up, call the library at 936-291-5472 so that staff may best serve your needs.

Checked-out items that were due during the library’s closure have been automatically extended to be due July 2. However, patrons may choose to return their books at either book drop as they will remain open for use.

The Huntsville Public Library appreciates your understanding and apologizes for the inconvenience.
