The voters of #HomeSweetHuntsville took to the polls for the November 5th Election and the unofficial results are in.

The voters of #HomeSweetHuntsville took to the polls for the November 5th Election and the unofficial results are in.

Mayor Andy Brauninger ran unopposed, receiving 2,026 votes. In Ward 1, Daiquiri Beebe received 52.59 percent of the 523 votes cast. In Ward 2, Russell Humphrey ran unopposed, receiving 235 votes. In Ward 3, Blake Irving received 69.47 percent of the 285 votes cast. In Ward 4, Incumbent Joe Rodriquez held onto his seat for another term with 68.23 percent of the 1,045 votes cast.

According to the Walker County Elections Office, there are 33,381 registered voters in the county. Only 16.65 percent of those voters exercised their right to vote, with 5,557 votes cast.  

For the City precincts, there are approximately 16,400 voters and only 4,114 showed up to the polls.

The results are expected to be finalized by the Elections Board next week. The new councilmembers will be sworn in by County Judge Danny Pierce at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 19th, at the next regular Council meeting. Outgoing councilmembers Tish Humphrey, Ronald Allen, and Mayor Pro Tem Joe Emmett will be honored at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 19th at the Huntsville Public Library, with a combined 32 years of experience terming out.
