Beginning last night at 10:00PM, Huntsville experienced a significant weather event that caused
major flooding resulting in power outages, road closures, and displacement of residents. City
crews and personnel have worked diligently to address the problems caused by the flooding
and are still working to restore services to full capacity.
Employees from every department within the city have tirelessly dedicated themselves to
ensuring the safety of Huntsville's residents. The Huntsville Fire Department and other rescue
trained first responders answered 26 rescue calls within the City of Huntsville during the height
of the event. The Huntsville Police Department handled numerous accidents and positioned
themselves in areas so that drivers could be warned about high water and obstructed roadways.
With the threat of continued flooding, we urge residents to prioritize safety and stay informed
thorough official channels. Please DO NOT drive through high water and please report any
issues to the City of Huntsville 936-291-5700, the Walker County Office of Emergency
