  1. Master Gardeners -- “Free Rainwater and Other Water-Saving Tips”

    September 19, 2022, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

    Library

Join the Walker County Master Gardeners from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19 in Huntsville Public Library’s Staggs Community Room for a presentation about “Free Rainwater and Other Water-Saving Tips.” With 100% of Walker County experiencing severe drought, watering your garden becomes problematic due to water restrictions and water rationing. Using a system of self-watering garden containers and harvesting rainwater for residential garden use makes sense. Texas Master Gardeners are members of the local community who have completed the Texas Master Gardener training program in Walker County. The Walker County AgriLife Extension Office offers this program to the community. The group is committed to educating others in the community about a variety of horticulture-related topics. Sign up required for this free workshop.

Come celebrate reading with us at the Huntsville Public Library! Whether you like stories about magical creatures or just relatable stories about kids like you, there will be something for you! We’ll meet once a month and focus on one book that we’ll read beforehand. Then at the book club, we’ll talk about the book and do crafts and activities related to it. This book club is best suited for ages 10 to 14. Join us at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 19. We’ll be reading the graphic novel, The Cardboard Kingdom, and making fun masks and dress up gear out of cardboard just like the kids in the book! Didn’t read the book? Come anyway!
