    Join the Walker County Master Gardeners from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, August 29 in Huntsville Public Library’s Staggs Community Room. You’ll get some great tips about what to do now for your Fall and Spring vegetable gardens, how to protect your landscapes and crops from frosts and freezes, plus many other gardening topics of interest. You’ll even learn what a Food Forest is. The Walker County AgriLife Extension Office offers the Texas Master Gardeners Training Program to our community. Texas Master Gardeners are members of their local communities who have completed the program. Our local Master Gardeners group is committed to educating others in Walker County about a variety of horticulture-related topics.

    Greetings, space cats! Are you looking for a fun, social activity that lets you practice your reading skills and sample new kinds of books! Mission Accomplished at Huntsville Public Library! Whether you like funny cats, space battles, magical kingdoms, or just relatable stories about real kids, there will be something for you! At each book club meeting, you can enjoy fun crafts and activities related to the story. The Early Readers Space Cats Book Club will meet every other week at 5 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 15 and 29. Children between the ages of 6 and 10 are welcome to attend. Selections will include books such as Pizza and Taco: Who is the Best?, and Arlo and Pips: King of the Birds. Titles do not need to be read before the start of each meeting.
