    Would you like to learn a fun and calming skill and also have a homemade scarf to take home as we head into fall? Come knit with us at Huntsville Public Library! Our knitting circle will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 10 and June 24. This event is for children ages 10-14. No prior experience is necessary!

  2. Sittercise

    Get fit while you sit with Sittercise! Everybody’s favorite exercise program is being offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic illnesses. Sittercise focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older. Class is limited to 25 so social distancing can be maintained.

  3. Law Enforcement Week

    Huntsville Public Library invites parents and PreK through Elementary School aged children to come visit with some of our local law enforcement officers as they share information about their careers and how they help keep our community safe. Law Enforcement Week begins Monday, June 13 with a visit from a Walker County Sheriff's Department Deputy. Learn more about Huntsville’s Police Department and what it takes to be a police officer on June 14.  On June 15, you can learn about the Huntsville Fire Department and what it's like to be a firefighter. A fun, information packed presentation by the U.S. Forest Service on June 17 rounds out the week.  Presentations start at 3:00 pm each day so be sure to mark your calendars and join us for Law Enforcement Week at your favorite public library!

  4. 3D Printing Classes

    Ever wondered how 3D printing works? Want to take a crack at making your own 3D model? Huntsville Public Library is offering two 3D printing classes during the month of June. Participants will learn how to make a 3D model in Tinkercad and their model will be printed by library staff. Staff will notify participants via phone and/or email when their print is ready to pick up. An adult 3D printing class for ages 18 and up will take place in the Monday Computer Room on Tuesday, June 14 from 5-6 pm. A teen 3D printing class for ages 12-17 will take place in the Rex Children’s room on Wednesday, June 15 from 5-6 pm.

    Come to Story Time, a fun early literacy program for kids six and under. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. The early literacy practices featured each week help build a foundation for the lifelong love of reading and learning. For parents and caregivers, Story Time offers an opportunity to experience early literacy strategies in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents afterward. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday sessions all share a theme with something new and exciting each week. Sign up is not required.
