  1. Sittercise

    Get fit while you sit with Sittercise! It’s an exercise program offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic and other illnesses. It focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older.

  2. Free Basic Computer Classes

    Want to get more comfortable with computers or update your skills? If so, then register for our Free Basic Computer Classes held at the Huntsville Public Library. Classes will be held from 11 to 12 p.m. on Tuesdays in September. These classes will discuss using the mouse, typing, emailing, and Internet browsing. Class size is limited, and registration is required. A library card is needed to participate in the classes. If you don’t have a card, bring your ID! Adults 17 years and older can register for classes.

  3. Introduction to Mandarin Chinese

    Sightseeing at the Great Wall, visiting the Terracotta Warriors or traveling to Beijing, Shanghai or Taiwan on business? Study Chinese language and culture before your trip. Join a FREE Mandarin Chinese class at the Huntsville Public Library from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 17 and 24. Beginning level students will learn about the history of the language, how to draw Chinese characters, and how to read using the Pinyin spelling system (transcription of Chinese characters into the Roman alphabet). This series will repeat in November.

  4. Story Time at Night

    Story Time is a fun early literacy program for kids 5 and under at the Huntsville Public Library. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts three times a week in the Staggs Community Room. The early literacy practices featured each week help build the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning. Story Time offers caregivers and parents an opportunity to experience early literacy practices in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents after Story Time. There is something new each week! Sign-up is not required. Story Time is held on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings, and Friday mornings.
