The City of Huntsville Planning Department will continue to accept public comments for the update to the Transportation Master Plan until Saturday, April 20. An Open House was held on Tuesday, April 9, where visitors were asked to submit their ideas and opinions for consideration. The event was held at the William Hodges Education Building at the Sam Houston Statue & Visitor Center, 7600 State Highway 75 South.
City Council approved a grant to update the Transportation Master Plan in December 2017. HDR was hired as the consultant for the project and began work in July 2018.
“There has been research completed on the many aspects of transportation in the city,” said City Manager Aron Kulhavy. “Our consultants have met with staff, held workshops and meetings with staff and Council. A workgroup was also conducted with representatives from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville ISD, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Department of Transportation and Walker County.”
Displays from the Open House are available at City Hall lobby, 1212 Avenue M, for citizens to review. You can also access the displays at HuntsvilleTX.gov/2019TransportationMasterPlan.
