Unofficial returns from the December 15 runoff election will be shown on HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elections or HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elecciones
The runoff election for City Council Position 2 At-Large will run from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Dee Howard and William E. Bayne filed to run for the Council seat being vacated by Tyler McCaffety, who did not file for re-election. All voting on election day will be at the Walker County Annex.
After the polls close on Saturday evening, updates will appear at the top of the City's elections page at HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elections or HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elecciones. A note above the results grid will indicate when all unofficial totals have been listed. All results are unofficial until canvassed by the City Council at an official meeting.
Over 50% of registered voters voted in the general election last month, and the runoff election will still cost the City several thousand, so turnout is a must. For the runoff election, there are no lines to wait in and only one race to vote on. The election is open to all City of Huntsville registered voters, even if they did not vote in the November 6 general election.
Sample ballots and election information is available online at HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elections or HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elecciones, or by contacting the City Secretary's office at CitySecretary@HuntsvilleTX.gov or 936-291-5403.
The City of Huntsville contracts election services with the Walker County Voter Registrar, Tax Assessor/Collector Diana McRae, and all election processes are conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code and relevant statute.
