Only 227 voters have made their way to the Walker County Annex through today for early voting for the December 15 runoff election. This means many more of Huntsville's 16,500+ voters still need to vote. In an election with slow voting, every vote counts even more!
Over 50% of registered voters voted in the general election last month, and the runoff election will still cost the City several thousand, so turnout is a must. For the runoff election, there are no lines to wait in and only one race to vote on. The election is open to all City of Huntsville registered voters, even if they did not vote in the November 6 general election.
Early voting runs through Tuesday, December 11. Early voting will be held at the Walker County Annex from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Tuesday, December 11, hours will be extended to run from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Dee Howard and William E. Bayne are the candidates for City Council At-Large Position 2, being vacated by Councilmember Tyler McCaffety, who did not seek re-election.
Election day voting on December 15 will also be at the Walker County Annex, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Sample ballots and election information is available online at HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elections or HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elecciones, or by contacting the City Secretary's office at CitySecretary@HuntsvilleTX.gov or 936-291-5403.
The City of Huntsville contracts election services with the Walker County Voter Registrar, Tax Assessor/Collector Diana McRae, and all election processes are conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code and relevant statute.
VOTE, HUNTSVILLE!
