Benefits for the Children
Children's programming will be a hallmark of the Wynne Home Arts Center through education, exhibits, and opportunities for self-expression. This will be done in the following ways:
  • Art instruction classes in upstairs classrooms and ceramics studio: 
    • Pottery
    • Drawing
    • Painting
    • Weaving
  • Birthday parties, picnics, holiday celebrations
  • Children's art exhibits including: 
    • Graphic designs
    • Masks
    • Paintings
    • Paper mache
    • Piñatas
    • Tie-dye
  • Cooperative programs with HISD for arts education
  • Dance and creative dramatics on grounds and in classroom
  • Workshops and special events for creating art including ceramics, video, and photography
  • Training in vocal and instrumental music: guitar, horn, piano, other
Seniors & Adults
All adults from our diverse community will have opportunities to learn, interact and participate in the ongoing activities of the Wynne Home Arts Center in the following ways:
  • Classes in watercolor, music, sculpting, quilting, cooking and more
  • Gallery with regular daily hours for viewing art and heritage exhibits
  • Gift shop featuring art of local artists
  • Opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work, demonstrate skills
  • Opportunities for storytellers, tour guides and other volunteers
  • Space for informal gatherings, speakers on arts and heritage
  • Space for reunions, weddings and receptions, gospel singing, festivals
  • Studio space for local artists; day trips from Huntsville and outreach programs
Local Organizations
The Wynne Home provides much-needed meeting and event space to local organizations, which will benefit from the flexible and versatile center in the following ways:
  • 4 rooms for regularly-occurring or special meetings
  • Kitchen facility for catered events, luncheons and receptions
  • Meeting / conference space for groups of up to 50
  • Special event seating on the grounds for more than 300
Visitors to Huntsville
Partnering with museums, tourist centers and other sites of interest, the Wynne Home is an important component of local tourism efforts in the following ways:
  • Tours of the beautifully restored 19th century mansion with its art and antique furnishings 
  • Displays highlighting Huntsville's history, architecture and heritage
  • Performances by individual musicians and small performing groups
  • Rotating exhibits of well-known local, regional and national artists
