    Get fit while you sit with Sittercise! It’s an exercise program offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic and other illnesses. It focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older.

  2. Hour of Code™ ?

    Is anyone ever too old to learn how to code? The Hour of Code™ is a global movement that aims to introduce coding to everyone, regardless of age or background. Participate this summer in the Hour of Code™ event - a fun introduction to computer science - at the Huntsville Public Library! This series of four classes for adults will be held from 11 to 12 p.m. on Thursdays begins May 9 in the Monday Computer Room.The hour-long sessions give attendees an opportunity to learn the basics of coding and aim to instill confidence to learn new technology. Activities require no prior experience and are designed to demystify "code" in a way that shows that anybody can learn the basics of computer science. Registration is required.

    Sightseeing at the Great Wall, visiting the Terracotta Warriors or traveling to Beijing, Shanghai or Taiwan on business? Study Chinese language and culture before your trip. Join a FREE Mandarin Chinese class at the Huntsville Public Library from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 9, and 16. Beginning level students will learn about the history of the language, how to draw Chinese characters, and how to read using the Pinyin spelling system (transcription of Chinese characters into the Roman alphabet). Registration is required.
