  1. Microsoft Word classes

    The Huntsville Public Library is offering free Microsoft Word classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays or Fridays from 10:00 am to 11 am or on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 6:30pm starting April 4th through April 28th. These classes will feature class activities on typing and how to make corrections, formatting text with pictures and graphics, tables and outline with bullets. Class size is limited so you must be registered to take the class. You can register online at myhuntsvillelibrary.com or at the Tech Reference Desk. For more information, feel free to stop by the library or call 936-291-5485.

  2. Financial Literacy

    In observance of April being proclaimed Financial Literacy Month by Mayor Andy Brauninger, Huntsville Public Library will host the SHSU Student Money Management Center’s month-long series of financial workshops. Some of the sessions planned so far are “Match-Making: How to Make your Dreams Come True” in which participants will learn how to match their money with their goals; “College Costs: More than Tuition”; Investing in Undergraduate Education: Costs and Resources”; and, “Spending Plans: Meeting goals the Simple Way” which will be offered in English and Spanish. SHSU employees may utilize these external workshops as Continuing Education hours with their supervisor’s approval. No registration required.

  4. Citizenship Preparation Classes

    April 25, 2017, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Library Community Room

    The Huntsville Public Library, in conjunction with the Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Law, Engagement, and Politics (LEAP) Center, will present a free five-week Citizenship Preparation Course. The class will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning March 28th through April 25th in the Huntsville Public Library’s Community Room. The course is designed to prepare immigrants for the U. S. Naturalization Test and will cover the application process, oral interview, and exam. All necessary materials will be provided. The classes are taught by Mike Yawn, Political Science Professor at SHSU. Space is limited and registration is required, so sign up at the library early.
