Town Creek Drainage Project Update - 7/17/2017

July

Town Creek Related Closures

The below is related to the Town Creek Drainage Project. Please be aware that the Sam Houston Avenue water line replacement project will also be in some of these areas. Additional information will be released for it.

Progression of the Town Creek Drainage Project is bringing a lot of changes to roads near downtown. Please remember construction dates are flexible and always use caution and be alert around construction zones.

Sam Houston Avenue
The most challenging area will be along Sam Houston Avenue in the block between 13th and 14th Streets. From Monday, May 22 until June 4, only one lane of traffic in each direction will be open in that block. Those approaching in the outside lanes from either 12th or 15th Streets must turn before entering the 13th-14th Street block of Sam Houston Avenue. The Walker County Annex and Jackson Square parking lots will be primarily accessible from surrounding streets, but there will also be limited access along Sam Houston Avenue near 14th Street, as there is currently.
For about a week, roughly June 5-9, Sam Houston Avenue will be completely closed between 13th and 14th Streets for repaving. During that time, both 13th Streets and University Avenue will be completely open.

University Avenue

From Monday, May 22 until June 4, a half block section of University Avenue will be closed from 14th Street past the Midway Plaza entrance. Midway Plaza must be accessed from Avenue J between 13th and 14th Streets. University Avenue will be open from the 13th Street side to provide access to the back of the Walker County Annex parking lot and the Legacy Martial Arts building (formerly Bank of America).

For about a week, roughly June 5-9, University Avenue will be completely open while Sam Houston Avenue is repaved from 13th-14th Streets. Further closures along University Avenue will be announced as available.

13th Street will be open beginning May 25.
